I understand Google's recent changes of their API might make this more challenging, however perhaps you can integrate a solution where Google Translate at least opens up and shows you the translation within the app? I believe this is how Twicca's add-on is handling this following the API changes.

Per-user and per-tweet manual translation, and, even better, auto-language detection translation is really critical. I'd happily pay a bounty or pay for a subscription service for this -- it's absolutely critical for my usage.

With today's earthquake, this option would have been great. Something accessible from the More button.

I agree. Translate on a per-tweet basis, or set to always translate by user would be great.

While this was a major pain point a few months ago, I've since discovered an app called "Translate Intent" that makes use of the Share mechanism that most apps have. It's not as simple as what a native function would offer, but it does the job.

This feature is a must have imo. Actually I think Google should add an API to Android that would change all language to whatever language the user has set to default on the fly rendering this feature null. I can dream :)
